It's not often that the natural world echos the palette of the urban landscape. But right now, in Autumn, I'm seeing the similarities. Eucalypt trees, both trunk and foliage, turn more silver at this time of year; all concrete and iron bars. And although in my part of the world we're not privy to the spectacular show that leaves can put on, the few that turn are infused with red brick, rusted steel and terracotta. The morning sky is often a muted smoky grey and as the sun sets, asphalt black.
I find myself reaching for similar hues when dressing myself on Autumn mornings. A geometric rust maxi skirt from Fabrik in silky rayon; a slightly thicker, warmer alternative to summer's cottons. And soft, drapey jersey in grey and black teamed with their licorice bamboo leggings. In a nod to nature's seasonal show I covet the delicate meadow skirt and the organic cotton henley tee, and for effortless dressing, the jersey dress for it's elegance and simplicity.
Fabrik uses locally sourced natural dyes to infuse their wares with such earthy tones and their Autumn/Winter collection is delicious to say the least. Founder and designer Sarah Hardie has based her business on an ethical and eco-friendly philosophy and produces beautiful, wearable pieces with a conscious. Very generously, Fabrik is giving away a $100 gift voucher. To enter simply leave a comment highlighting your favourite thing about Autumn. Perhaps a meal, a pastime or maybe an outfit. This giveaway is open to international readers and the winner will be announced on Thursday 1st of May.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about Autumn, is rugging up and going on adventures, the local parks, beaches and farms are all so pretty in Autumn, and we make the most of any sunshine before Winter hits with full force.
ReplyDeleteSteph you look gorgeous in these outfits and I love your location for you photos too:) My favourite thing about Autumn would have to be the crisp mornings signally a change of season and wearing different wardrobe, it's nice to have a change after Summer clothes. Thank you for such a gorgeous giveaway. xx
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Autumn is the feeling of it: the crisp cold mornings, of dew underfoot and iced, aching fingers while hanging the washing. Snuggled mornings that give way to gloriously warm, sunshiny days busy with Autumn things - like walking in the park and sitting reading in a patch of sun. A comforting and invigorating season :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Autumn is the cool nights. There's nothing better than snuggling in bed in my flanny pj's with a good book!
ReplyDeletebeautiful! I love Autumn - the cooler days, the beautiful fire-y colours in the trees, the bare trees, the warmed up beanies for the kids, flannelette pjs, hot drinks, soups with fresh breads, wool-lined boots, the smell of wood smoke...I could go on, I just love it after such a beautiful, hot, long summer :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Autumn is running through fallen leaves on a chilly bright day with my toddlers! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the smells…a neighbour has a wood burning fireplace, the slow cooked foods that fill the house with warmth and aromas, the eucalyptus hand washing liquid that lingers on the sweaters and quilts that I bring out of storage.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Autumn is warmth. The warmth of the midday sun (so more delicious when it's cooler at the start and end of the days), snuggly ugh boots (my essential!), extra little bodies in the morning, nourishing soups to warm the belly and soul, and of course, a hot cup of tea, cupped in your palms. I'm loving those light layers from Fabrik! Thanks :) Lauren
ReplyDeleteOh that Jersey dress looks so comfy!! Thank you for the opportunity x
ReplyDeleteAutumn mornings. Slow and crisp. Sitting in front of the wood fire still burning from the night before. Porridge orders from the kids.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity.
You look gorgeous.

You look gorgeous in that skirt with your messy bun and fabulous scarf.
ReplyDeleteOh, Autumn. There's so much to love. Especially mornings with a chill to them and little ones snuggled up under blankets with you. :)
I really love the weather and the makeup popular in the autumn

I love Autumn, in far North Queensland it signals the end of the wet season with dry days and the slight chill in the morning air. We can war long pants to bed and sleep with blankets on, have hot dinners and exhale..... Finally the heat is gone and we can breathe again.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is my favorite time of the year for so many different reasons. The season appeals to all of the senses; sights - lovely colors of the changing leaves, smells - the smell of a wood burning in a fireplace, the tastes - fruit crisps and breads and roasted vegetables baking in the oven, touch - the feel of cool mornings, warm sweaters, blankets and scarves, a pair of favorite jeans and brown leather boots, sounds - the crunch of leaves beneath my feet. I love everything about this time of year!
ReplyDeleteI love the leaves changing color :)
ReplyDeleteI love the easy mornings that call for hot cups of tea on the patio - there is dew on the ground and the air is crisp. The days are still hot - but the nights call for extra blankets and woollen jumpers. The leaves change and the world slows down. Autumn is delightful :)
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of autumn x
ReplyDeleteOh I love Fabrik clothes!! For me, Autumn signifies beautiful light. The sunshine filters through and our fair skin can cope without sunscreen for the first time in months. Light also comes in Autumn in the form of my anniversary to my love and the birth of my little boy, moments I cherish that have left indelible imprints. Autumn, such a special season for our family.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win this wonderful gift of fabrik garments, my favourite thing about Autumn is watching kids play in the fallen leaves, such unbounded joy to jump , run, roll about and throw things that won't break .
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about autumn is the mornings- the air is cooler, so I can wear long PJs and warm slippers. A cup of tea is warming. The colours of the morning sky are more intensely hued, the air is crisp. It's just good for the soul.
ReplyDeleteI don't have Autumn in my country, but I would love the changing landscapes. The different colour leaves, colder weather.
ReplyDeleteThe cool air, the changing leaves and the new winter wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful crisp mornings following by glorious days, such a pleasure to be out and about in the countryside, my favourite time of year!
ReplyDeleteThe colours of Autumn foliage are amazing! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is the start of the school year on the east coast, and autumn still feels like a new beginning. The cool mornings after a long hot summer, and fresh blank notebooks ready for school. Unwritten pages full of potential.
ReplyDeleteThe cooler nights so I can snuggle under the doona.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Autumn is that a change of season is the perfect excuse for a change of wardrobe ;)
ReplyDeletecooler nights and no mosquitoes. I love the tropics but summer can be intense
ReplyDeleteI love the anticipation of Winter. It's like you seek out the last beautiful days of sunshine and drink them in.

I adore Autumn. The still warm days and sea, the less intense light, the cool afternoons and amazing sunsets. Gorgeous clothing. Off to explore website. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous Steph. Autumn has to be my favourite season, I love the crisp air, and I love that its not too cold and not too hot, that you can wear a light cardi in the morning and by early afternoon drop a layer to feel the suns warmth. I love the smell of open fires by mid afternoon and that we can still have days where all the doors and windows are open..x
ReplyDeleteI love watching the leaves change

My favourite thing must be the colder weather, winter pj's coming out, kids snuggling and if they are lucky having a cold cup of Milo. Living in Queensland though means they were probabley running around under the sprinkler ten minutes before!. thanks for the chance

ReplyDeleteOh Steph, you look gorgeous! My favourite thing about Autumn is the cool nights. I put my baby in his warm long onesie pyjamas, the husband and I get into our comfortable trackies, we sit on the couch and snuggle. We think of how this time last year, when the weather started to get crisp, we were awaiting the arrival of our sweet boy, and now he is here..!
ReplyDeleteOhh that burnt orange hued skirt is stunning, the perfect Autumnal shade.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Autumn is unpacking the scarves and cardigans that have been stowed away in a vintage suitcase over the warming months, ready for the crisp, breezy days that Autumn brings.
x
After a very very long hot summer I'm loving some cooler nights and a chance to snuggle under the covers on a Sunday morning. I'm also looking forward to some hearty nourishing soups!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love their clothes, especially the essential hoodie and the bazaar dress (maxi skirts and maxi dresses unfortunately don't suit me very much)! Autumn has a special place in my heart. I live in Germany, so we have leaves turning yellow, orange, red and a rusty brown, the sky is so blue, the air crisp and clear. In autumn it is necessary to light the oven in the evening, and the smell of the burning wood is another thing I love. Making baked apples, drinking lots of tea and getting cozy with a good book under a warm blanket, and then softly gliding into the winter season ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance of winning such beautiful clothes, keeping my fingers crossed!
Fine

ReplyDeleteI love raking up the leaves and jumping in them!

Thanks for the opportunity, Steph! My favorite thing about autumn is the food and the company with which to share it. We make spiced wine on the stovetop and applesauce from my grandparents' tree. I love also that my family stays closer to the kitchen, and that dinner extends to the fireplace after the plates are cleared. The perfect season for drawing closer together.

My favourite thing about Autumn ... well, in seasons past, it would have been the midday sun, a warming curry, or perhaps even pulling on my ugg boots for the first time. But this Autumn, it just has to be snuggles with my new Autumn babe. Nothing better. Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteSitting in my backyard in the crisp air on an Autumn afternoon, sipping hot mulled cider while wearing tall leather boots and a thick fuzzy sweater <3

My favourite thing about Autumn is the hustle and bustle of the town as people return from vacations and get ready to go back to school! As a future elementary teacher I always get so excited for Autumn as it is when I consider the "new year" and is a time that holds so much hope and promise.
ReplyDeleteWhat an beautiful giveaway! I've not heard of this company before - but so looking forward to checking them out more now!
ReplyDeleteFavorite autumn moments for me would be the warmth of wood fires, wearing dresses with boots and tights, and the gorgeous sunlight shining through the trees. Such a wonderful season!

It was an Autumn afternoon when I met my gorgeous husband - I always think it is the most romantic season! xo
There are two things I love most about Autumn. The first is the smoke from the home fires which wafts across the little valley where I live, especially comforting when coming home at night. The second is snuggling up under the covers with my husband at night to keep off the chill!

So very stylish! That skirt is amazing! I love pretty much everything about autumn, it is just perfect for me. My favourite thing would have to be hanging out next to the fire first thing in the morning waiting for my coffee to brew on the top of it.
ReplyDeleteI love this autumn. My boy is just one and he's really observing the world around him - crumpled fallen magnolia leaves, mushrooms poking through the lawn, afternoon shadows on the wall. Each season is better than the last as he delights is what it brings.
ReplyDeleteOh that skirt is delicious.
ReplyDeleteI think my favourite thin about Autumn is the changing light - watching it come up later in the morning with its golden-ness and the way it has a more honey rich tone. The big persimmon tree jn our garden turns golden and orange before all the leaves tumble off. And those cooler days thinking of crochet beside wood fires.
I love this autumn. My boy is just one and he's really observing his world - crumpled fallen magnolia leaves, mushrooms poking through the lawn, afternoon shadows on the wall. Each season is better than the last with him as he explores what each one brings.
ReplyDeleteFirst time reader Steph! I love the way my hair behaves in Autumn, without all the humidity of summer!
ReplyDeleteI love it when autumn turns the morning air crisp. When our Sunday morning market jaunts inch backwards into dawn. Chilly cheeks and hands wrapped around a nice chai while the kids romp around the community gardens kids play area. Watching the few trees flame into autumnal tones. Tucking my wee people into bed laden with blankets, just a smidge earlier.... Autumn is my favourite time of year.
ReplyDeleteI too am a first time reader, though have been following on Instagram for some time. I adore Autumn- not only is it my birthday in May, but I love feeling the seasons changing.. and pulling out all my cosy warm things. :) x
ReplyDeleteOh sorry Steph, that comment was from Saminda. Just working on a proper account at the moment as I start my own blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and coolness of fall and the start if the slow down for winter!
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful leaves falling off the trees and how they are all different colours!!!
ReplyDeleteHaving blankets on the bed...
ReplyDeleteAutumn starts with Mardi Gras fun,
ReplyDeleteThose afternoons with crisp sun,
There’s Easter at St Mary’s,
The views of the Autumn morning fog and ferries!
With having 3 sons, I love the gorgeous leaves changing colours and falling to the ground. My sons and I have such a great time kicking the leaves.
ReplyDeleteAutumn in Australia is delightful.
ReplyDeleteThe days draw in,
the air grows cool,
The air is gentler, soft and mellow.
The sun has grown a paler yellow.
Vibrant colors of orange and pink fill the afternoons and on into the evening. I love the falling leaves I love the smell of the fireplace and the warmth of snuggling with my three babies.
I love the change…

Gosh, I will just be entering in the nick of time - such a lovely giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about autumn, (aside from the breathtaking performance of the turning trees!), is the shift in our daily routines... A slower pace on chilly mornings as we savour a little extra time in toasty beds, layering clothes for comfort and warmth, a couple of extra cups of tea throughout the day to ease the chills...
Autumn gives reprieve from the heat,
ReplyDeleteand russet leaves crunching under my feet.
Autumn means family celebrations of birthdays and my Anniversary..
I love Autumn's classic fashions of neutrals, greys and cashmere cardi's!!
Brilliant bursts of fiery red,
ReplyDeleteAdorn trees for all to see...
Fall, then crunch beneath my feet
Secrets whispered just for me.
That skirt is absolutely DIVINE! Thanks for the chance!
I love the evenings - crisp, smoky air, enjoying a walk amongst the gorgeous autumn colours, but looking forward to returning to a toasty-warm house and snuggling on the couch with a bowl of pumpkin soup.
