Mon Espace Créateur - { My Creative Space }

I have never read How to Make an American Quilt by Whitney Otto nor watched the movie but after this week's creative space I think I should. A tale of women working together to create one wedding quilt full of love and memories and the odd cup of tea sounds so enchanting.

This week I made my own version...a knitted blanket! Now before you get too excited...no, I didn't knit it...I cut up old woolen jumpers and sewed them together á la The Crafty Minx.

I had such fun hunting out pure wool jumpers (so that they will shrink slightly in the wash to stop the seams fraying) and as I was cutting the squares and piecing it together my thoughts often wandered to the wearers of the jumpers. Was the pale lilac twin set used for job interviews, was the cream angora cardigan with pearl buttons draped over shoulders on the way out of the ballet, was the powder blue merino a perfect "having a sickie" lounge about, rainy day kinda jumper?

And here is my own little dreamer snuggled up under all those memories creating ones of her very own. She is going to be an Enid girl for sure, bless her dear heart!!
