When my blossoming hips....and my embarrassment at shopping in the boys' section got the better of me I graduated to sass and bide hipsters. Mmmmm! Delicious!
But after copping one too many eyefuls of plumbers' cracks and glo pink g-strings (picture Kim from Kath and Kim!) on local teens in said jeans (they really were very low)I moved on to sass and bide skinnies and that's where I've faithfully stayed. I'm a loyal jean gal you know.
When the lovely Melissa of Until Wednesday Calls put up a challenge to use one fabric for a month I immediately thought of denim. Such a versatile fabric, it didn't let me down as I created a "mushroom" library bag for Bijou for the carry-all challenge (cause that beautiful girl could eat her body weight in the fungus if given half a chance), a crochet hook cozy for the beautiful Kylie's birthday (for the clutch challenge...o.k. a bit of a stretch I know!)
a little putty tat cushion for the cushion with reversed appliqué challenge, a set of colour coasters for poppet for the reverse appliqué coasters challenge,
and a ruffly skirt for a lovely friend's little one. Thankfully it passed the "twirl" test...perhaps that's the equivalent of sass and bide to the two and a half year old set.
I had a whale of a time using just the one fabric as it really forced me to get creative...no relying on a trusty piece of gorgeous Heather Bailey or Amy Butler fabric. The next challenge though is to make sure I don't continue to use denim and denim alone for all my creative endeavours. Perhaps Hubby could do with a new suit for work...ooh la la!!
For more creative spaces do not pass go, do not collect $200, go straight to Kirsty's gorgeous blog and have a sticky beak.
