the rainbow festival

The wind bore a resemblance to a Summer gale yet the rainbows all about heralded Spring's arrival. The mood was celebratory and the vibrancy around us brought our eyes and illness weary limbs to life.  Our babies painted silk with watery hues and we watched as they swirled colour and magic all about the place. We chose blooms from a sea of beauty and twined them into wreaths. These scented circles we balanced gently on our crowns as we feasted on wholesome, delicious fare beneath creaking gum trees. We chatted of simpler things and filled our baskets with tiny toys of wood and felt and wool.  For a time we stepped away from everyday mechanisms and embraced a new fluidity. Like butterflies we floated from this to that and bathed ourselves in such magnificent colour. Oh, it was a grand day.

We spent an enchanting day at the Samford Valley Steiner School festival.
