Mon très propre Chef de Maître - { My very own Master Chef }

Mon petit poppet has discovered the joy of cooking! Well, should I say...licking the beater... and the spatula...and the bowl. So because I can't deny a whisker of theatrics in the day to day I have made her her very own chef set complete with apron, chef's hat and oven glove.

Although she won't be coming within a football field near anything hot in the near future, I insulated the oven mitt anyway. It is a generous size so she'll be able to grow into it. (Mmmm....a phrase I thought was reserved only for shoes, and school uniforms...oven gloves???).

And to celebrate that T.V. phenomena that is Master Chef, I have made a few sets for my Mathilda's Market stall along with my little art smocks. I can't claim to know too much about this über program as we don't own a television (freaks..., weirdos..., "what do you do??", "why don't you have 5 children??!"....don't worry, I've heard them all!) but from the talk on the street, it seems to be revolutionising Aussie cooking. Anything that gets people, including kids, in the kitchen cooking "real" food is a winner in my books.

And as a brilliant surprise this morning, I discovered I'm featured on the Mathilda's Market blog today. So much to do and so little time....but what an adventure I'm having! Down the rabbit hole I go.......

  5. Gorgeous Steph! No youre not a freak, I think its great that you dont own a TV and I dont blame you for not having one , I much rather sit down in the evening and get comfy with my crochet rather than watch the American crime shows that are on - who needs to watch that? Im glad to say I dont watch telly either, even the news is too depressing!

  10. This is a beautiful set! Great job! I have friends with no TV, so i'm used to that. My children love Masterchef, but that is all they watch, except for DVDs. There's a whole tonne of rubbish on the box and it's not safe to let them watch even the adds these days, which we mute, as they advertise adult shows at inappropriate times. Just like the internet, you have to have strict rules for kidlets.

I even cried. This is baaadaaad. But now I am detoxed from it I am going to stop watching that evil box again. Geeeeeze. oh yeah, I was going to say I love your material choice in the cute chef gear you made!

  16. It's so great to hear of other people that don't have a tv - makes me feel more normal! We often got the funny looks (and comments - not helped by having three under 3!) when someone found out we don't have one.

    It's amazing how much worse tv seems to have got in the 8 years since we stopped watching, too. I don't know if we could ever go back (we do watch dvds etc on the computer, though).

  20. yay on the feature Steph!!
    ohh, you know I love to hear that kids are baking & cooking, absolutely love it!
    with ours, we let them chop things aswell with a not too sharp knife so then they know to be careful and they feel like they are being
    involved.
    little poppet must look adorable in her little outfit.
